How do I get a more Random Shuffle Slideshow?
(This only applies to NIX Original Frames)
The Random Shuffle Algorithm used on our Digital Photo Frames does show photos in a Random sequence. If it doesn't, please consider the following:
1) Please always make sure that in settings, either 'Shuffle' is set to ON, or on other frames you select 'SlideshowOrder' is set to Random/Shuffle.
2) If your photos are in various folders, for a more random shuffle, it is best to have all photos in ONE root folder.
3) The algorithm of the Random Shuffle will initially select the first batch of photos from your collection (e.g. 1 - 20), shuffle them then move on. So it will take some time before the frame shuffles through photos later in your collection. If you have a large collection of photos to shuffle through, you need to allow more time for the processor to get through the collection randomly. For example, if you have 5000 photos in the collection, you will not see later numbered photos (e.g. 2000, 3000 and 4000) immediately. The frame will progressively cycle through earlier photos first. Over time, the algorithm will shuffle the photos up more and more. Think of it as a snowball effect, if you will. The longer your frame is left on, the more random the slideshow will be.
If you want to make sure your Frame can definitely shuffle photos, a good way to test is to download the attached .zip file that contains 100 photo files, then load the photos onto your Memory device and play them on the frame. They should definitely appear randomly.
